8 Cruising Safety Tips
- Watch Your Valuables.
Leave your expensive valuables at home. You may think that your cabin is secure however; many people on ship have access to it. Keep your passport, return tickets, extra cash and valuables locked in the safe in your cabin.
- Watch Your Drinks.
Do not leave your drinks unattended. Do not accept drinks from strangers. The most common crime on board and cruise ship is sexual assault. Don’t give out your personal information to strangers.
- Watch Your Drinking.
Moderate your drinking so that you are always in control of yourself. Excessive drinking can make you an easy target for theft or assault.
- Watch Your Door.
Ask who is knocking at your cabin door before opening it.
- Don’t ever play superman!
Many people fall from ships when trying to climb on a railing or leaning over the railings. Most people who fall overboard are never recovered. Don’t climb on things that you are not supposed to.
- While onshore, do not carry a handbag.
Instead keep your money and credit card in your front pants pocket. Don’t flash cash. Here again it is just using your common sense.
- Always be aware of your surroundings.
If something doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t. Use the same kind of caution that you would it you were in an unfamiliar city.
- Never Be Alone.
Never wander about the ship alone and especially not in unlit hallways. Go places in groups.
Just plain ‘Good ole Common Sense’ is the key to happy and successful cruising! Statistics tell us that cruising is one of the safest ways to vacation and also one of the most relaxing ways. Enjoy your next cruise and keep it safe!
